CHAPTER OFFICERS

 

   Jake Mandator

President:  Jake is a 30 year member of the Canton Chapter. He has served the chapter and the Johnny Appleseed District as president and treasurer. He also has been a chapter bulletin editor and district VP of chapter development. Jake is a retired systems specialist, who likes to renew Antique cars, garden and serves his church in it's choir, as well as it's treasurer. He and his wife, Pat live in the Massillon Area.     Dick Dudash

VP Chapter Development: Dick is a 40 year member of the Canton Chapter, serving as its President, Membership VP, and a board member for over 20 years. He will serve as a fitting solicitor for membership, having brought 29 men into our chapter. He has sung in two registered quartets and a number of pickup groups, singing valentines. Since retiring, as owner of Dudash Insurance Agency, he has devoted his time to his church, cycling, tennis, boating, photography, and barbershop. Dick and his wife Donna live in Dellroy, Ohio.     Ernie Jackson

VP Music & Performance: Ernie joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 1969, as a charter member of the Mon Valley, Pa. Chapter. He received director training through S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., at Harmony College, and subsequently directed the Valley Chordsmen chorus for ten years. Ernie is a solid quartet baritone, having sung in four quartets, prior to relocating to Canton, Ohio in 1980. Ernie became an associate director of the Hall of Fame Chorus, and still found time to sing in three quartets, the latest being "Picture This", a top notch seniors quartet.     Dave Richards

VP Program: Dave is a 20 year member of the Canton Chapter and sings bass in the Hall of Fame Chorus. He is employed as an Business Analyst at First Energy Corp., and enjoys gardening, photography, cooking, woodworking, and playing the guitar. He has served the chapter as it's program vice president for the past six years and does an outstanding job (with help from his wife, Barb) publishing the SQUAWKER newsletter.      Don Shoop

VP Marketing & Public Relations:  Don is a 20 year member of the Canton Chapter and sings baritone in the Hall of Fame Chorus. He served the chapter as it's bulletin editor for four years, and has sang in the "Second Childhood", a registered quartet. Don is retired from the Canton Repository, after 40 years of service.     Fr. Joe Witmer

Secretary-Treasurer: Fr. Joe, a native Cantonian, has taken a rather circuitous route in becoming a member of the Canton Chapter. He first joined the Barbershop Harmony Society, back in 1970, in the Warren Ohio Chapter. He then was assigned to the Canton area in 1973, where he joined the Canton Chapter. Later, he was reassigned to the Youngstown Area, and the Washington, D.C. area, where he won his International Gold Medal, singing with the Alexandria Harmonizers in 1986. He presently serves as pastor of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Aurora, Ohio, and once again is a member of the Hall of Fame Chorus.    Don Anderson

Board Member at Large & Webmaster:  Don is a 35 year member of the Canton Chapter. He has been its Bulletin Editor, President, VP Program, and has written and produced the annual chorus show for over 20 years. Don has sung in many quartets, most notably the Antique Music Revue and Vintage Music Company. He sings tenor in the Hall of Fame Chorus, where he is the section leader.     Todd Boyle

Board Member at Large:   Todd is five year member of the Canton Chapter.. While attending College, he sang with the Malone Chorale and the Chamber Singers. He continues to sing in his church choir. He has sung with several barbershop quartets and enjoys gospel music. He sings in the lead section of the chorus. Todd is employed by United Parcel Service, and is a registered locksmith.     Norman Dew

Board Member at Large: Norm is a four year member of the Canton Chapter; however, he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, along with a good lead voice, to the Hall of Fame Chorus. Born and raised in Michigan, he attended Cathage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he must have heard about the Barbershop Harmony Society. Norm is an ordained minister and serves as pastor of Peace Lutheran Church, here in Canton. He enjoys listening to jazz, gardening, golf and watching old movies.     Jesse Pittman

Board Member at Large & District Delegate: Jesse is a 20 year member of the Canton Chapter, serving as President and District Delegate. Jesse is in charge of fund raising projects for the chapter, faithfully serving to chair the Apple Fritter Booth and Poinsettia Sales efforts. He is tireless in his efforts to instill enthusiasm in the members and provides a sense of wisdom to the board. Jesse sings bass in the chorus. He  lives in North Canton with his wife Ann.     Stan Wallace

Board Member at Large:  Stan has been a Barbershop singer since high school, and has sung in a quartet, while attending Baldwin Wallace College. Stan is a United Methodist Pastor, who recently retired and has since devoted his energy, heading the important Grants Committee. Stan is a five year member of the Canton Chapter and sings in the Bass section of the chorus. He lives in Green, with his wife, Carol and they have two grown children. You can reach Rev.     Phil Downey

Immediate Past President: Phil has served as president of the Canton Chapter for six consecutive years. He has always put the chapter and chorus as his top priority. Phil leaves a legacy of having steered the chapter through some hard times, but now feels we're on the proper course. The new casual uniforms, and three time relocation of the chapter meeting place, all were on his "watch". Phil is a 25 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and sings lead in the Hall of Fame Chorus.     Joe Fraley

Chorus Manager: Joe is an 20 year member of the Canton Chapter. He has served as it's President, Program VP, and board member for nearly the entire span. He has sung in several registered quartets, and having switched from bass to tenor, now sings with the Twilight quartet.       David Rubin

 

Chorus Director: Dave has been involved with instrumental and vocal music for most of his life. Though his musical interests vary from Renaissance madrigals to rock-n-roll, barbershop harmony remains his favorite. Dave joined the society some 13 years ago, and has directed a variety of barbershop choruses during that period. The Canton Chapter is most pleased to have him directing the Hall of Fame Chorus. He presently sings baritone with the "Twilight" quartet. Dave is a published arranger, and a certified Music Judge in the Barbershop Harmony Society. To contact Dave, Click Here! 

 

 

      Darryl Flinn

Chorus Coach/Associate Director:  Darryl was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He began singing harmony in a high school quartet, and has been enjoying the hobby ever since. After a 35 year career as a District Manager with State Farm Insurance, he slipped quite nicely into the Executive Director seat at the Barbershop Harmony Society, from which he retired in 2004. He returned to the Canton area and his beloved "Hall Of Fame Chorus". He has served the society as a Chorus Director, Coach, Certified Singing Judge, District and International President and Board Member. Darryl is a 52 year member of the Society, singing baritone in the 2001 International Senior Quartet Champion, "Harmony". Darryl and Meredith live in North Canton, Ohio.     Larry White          

Associate Director:  Larry has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for over thirty years. He was instrumental in founding the Wooster Chapter, where he also directed. He formerly directed the Hall of Fame Chorus, and has been awarded the honor of being "Barbershopper of the Year", for his outstanding contributions to our craft.
